I just started using your tool, I produced my first .img file from a .mp but I found that all points are moved up to 10 meter from the original position and also that polylines are approximated with a fewer points,
Is this a limitation of the shareware?
What are the differences in the licensed tool?
Than you
Giuseppe
Answer: IMG format has limited precision for coordinates. Anyway this is question to cgpsmapper.exe.

Will you add Garmin bluechart export to the mapedit in the future. would be very valuable in combination with oziexplorer 3d.
Neal
Answer: Unfortunately BlueChart format is still not researched.

Sorry for not make my question clearly.
Let say if I draw a line which represent a road and the color of the line shows how is the traffic''s status of the road(Red mean traffic conjested, Green means fine). The road traffic''s data can be in text file of database.
Is there anyway the program can read the new data from the text file or database for update and refresh the color of the line in the map in every certain timeframe?
Thanks in advance.
Answer: I''m sorry, such custom functionality looks far beyound the scope where GPSMapEdit focused... This may be subject of some special project, but not a feature for public version of GPSMapEdit.

Good Job!!!

I have a question:
Is there anyway to join 2 polylines so that they become one polyline?
Thanx in advances
Answer: Unfortunately only by copy/paste points'' coordinates in text form - using polyline right-click and selecting ''Properties'' (in the ''Move points'' tool)

Good Job.
I have downloaded the GdiPlus.dll to load image data.
I''m trying to load ETOPO .map files png images, they load when I turn down colour depth 16 bit vrs 32 bit the image loads.
Question is I just get a Grey square where the etopo .map should be. your program reads all of the file loads then displays a grey box and ideas??
Answer: Please try to zoom in.

I use surfer (by Golden Software) to make fishing maps based on depth data that I collect. Can Surfer maps or files that Surfer export be converted to img files? Surfer can export file types:
Export Format Types

Metafile
Windows Picture (Enhanced) EMF
Windows Picture WMF
Windows Clipboard (picture) CLP
Computer Graphics Metafile CGM
AutoCAD DXF
Bitmap
Tagged Image (TIFF) TIF
Windows Bitmap BMP
Targa (True Vision) TGA
PCX (ZSoft/Paintbrush) PCX
WordPerfect Bitmap WPG
JPEG Compressed Bitmap JPG
CompuServe Bitmap GIF
PICT (MacIntosh) Bitmap PCT
DCX (Multi-page PCX) DCX
Portable Network Graphics Bitmap PNG
ESRI Shapefile SHP
Atlas Boundary BNA
Golden Software Blanking BLN
MapInfo Interchange Format MIF
Golden Software Interchange GSI
Golden Software Boundary GSB
Others can be requested.
Answer: IMG is vector format, so only vector data can be converted to it. GPSMapEdit supports import of ESRI shapefiles (SHP) and MapInfo MIF.

Thanks for your reply to my earlier post.

I noticed when I open a previously edited saved source file and re-save without doing any changes, the two files are not identical! See attached

Original:
[RGN40]
Type=0x6
Label=Yis St 20
Data0=(1.43622,103.83579),(1.43517,103.83622)
[END-RGN40]

Saved:
[RGN40]
Type=0x6
Label=Yis St 20
Data0=(1.43622,103.83580),(1.43517,103.83622)
[END-RGN40]

In this particular case there are 22 changes reported.

However if you open the "re-saved" file and save again there are no differences.

best regards,
Answer: Yes, this is known issue that GPSMapEdit may save coordinates with 1-increase or decrase in 5th digit. Please note that in Garmin IMG, all coordinates are stored with precision at most 0.000021 deg. Hence, the change in 5th digit will never affect the resulting IMG map.

Hi, I own a non-mapping GPS (Garmin GPS 72). I wonder if I can use your SW for changing the preloaded POI database. I loaded in the GPS the D005901A.rgn (got from Garmin site) but I''d like to modify it (navaids are very "approximate"). Your SW seems capable to read .rgn but not able to save in .rgn format. How can I do?

Thanks in advance.
Answer: Yes, it is possible to generate POI-only IMG file which may be loaded to GPS 72 in ordinary way (using SendMap or MapSource).

Great software, yeah!. I have problems with the color of the filled areas and color and width of the polylines. There is no relation between what one sees in MapEdit, MapSource and my Garmin 60CS.

Has it solution?

Thank you
Answer: I don''t like how MapSource renders maps and don''t want to copy this...

Hi again Konstantin.
This is Alberto from Mexico again

Do you have plans to integrate sendmap to GPSMapEdit? It would be a good idea to develop an integrate a GUI to use sendmap in a much easier way than with the current options. The GUI shown here
http://vip.hyperusa.com/~dougs/GPSSM/index.html
is not estable and does not work with every OS.

Greetings and keep on with your great work.

First a big thank you for a great software.
I know this have been asked before, how do you join two polylines?
You can accidentally moved an object or polyline without knowing it with the select tool.
Any way to prevent it?
Answer: 1. Please use SHIFT+click to select multiple objects (''Select'' tool should be active), then right-click to invoke the context menu, and select ''Join objects''.
2. I hope to find a way to prevent accidental moving.

Great software, I have access to AutoCAD and MicroStation, is there a way to bring data from those programs to your software? I have a lot of maps in vector format (DGN, DWG, DXF) that would not have to be retraced.
When is the DXF Import option planned?
Answer: Support of DXF format is planned. However it is possible to convert DXF to shapefiles (recognized by GPSMapEdit) using 3rd party software.
