This's great software, all gps funs whom I know in China are like this tool very much. Thank you!

We meet a little problem recently, we found that Mapedit can't recognize *.crd file of Holux, I suppose maybe Mapedit only support old version *.crd file, there's new version *.crd file that Mapedit don't support. Could you pls help to confirm it? And do you think if there's possibility you can upgrade Mapedit to support new version *.crd file? Thank you!

Програмка сильно выручает меня как рыболова, т.к. украинских карт для (конченого!) ХОЛЮКСА не достать, приходится рисовать самостоятельно. Есть правда неудобство с преобразованием треков и путевых точек посредством программы из Холюксовского формата... Короче они не преобразуются и треки обрисовываю пло точкам через ОзиЕксплорер вручную...
А так все вери гуд!Спасибо.

I like the software. One thing, I recently got the new Canada Metroguide 4 using CanMaps which is supposedly an upgrade from the previous data. There are issues though. There is a highway close to home where there is a problem with the access and I also wanted to add new roads where my daughter has just moved to. I find the img file and bring into your software, do the modifications and put it back. The mapping is fine but Metroguide 4 has routing capabilities and these are lost when I resave. Something for an upgrade maybe??

Is there an opportunity to insert an engine to seek out in a directory, with over two thousands files, those that go with the corresponding land?
In the directory of “City Navigator” or “MetroGuide” the files are shuffled, that make it very tricky to find the related file.

I remarked in “Map properties” that it is possible to see the “friendly name of the map” and at the end we can see the land, such as “*BELGI-*”,”* SVERIGE*”,”*PORTUGAL*” or “*FRANCE*, and so find the entire files to reconstruct the land map.

При импорте IMG файла каждый слой импортируетсья в отдельности. При внесении изменений приходиться: а) вносить изменения во все слои б) Использовать пункт Level. Нельзя ли автоматизировать процесс удаления дупликатов объектов на других слоях.

A nice program; I appreciate all the work that went into it.
One problem, though, is that it seems to reduce all the background polygons to a simple rectangle as soon as you create an edited img file. This larger background masks out the underlying maps when uploaded to a gps (or viewed in MapSource).
A question: When I load a MapSource img file, the header information shows the ID number to be totally different from the filename. If I save the file, the ID number becomes the new filename. Should I change the ID number in the pop-up window, or rename the filename to the original name so MapSource can find it?

Константин, есть некоторое предложение, а именно:
если окрыть .img файл потом внести в него изменения
(добавить или удалить что-либо)то потом приходится сохранять его в формате .txt, а потом снова конвертировать в .img. Это достаточно долго и нудно, нельзя ли сделать возможным сохранение измененного файла сразу в формате .img?

Эсть во швеции большой интерес за вашей программы MapEdit. Однако, состаить проблема в том што шведский датум РТ90 разноообразен и только употребляется в указанной стране. Планируется переход к датуму WGS84 в будущем, а когда ещё не знаем. Все изданные у нас землие карты изготовленны датумом РТ90. Морские карты уже следуют международный стандарт WGS84. К щастию, шведское уперавление землемерования Lantmäteriet издал характеристики РТ90 по английски на этом сайте

Шведские любители картографии надеются что будеть возможно приспособлять MapEdit также к датуму РТ90 изходя из этих данных.

What specification do you rely on for the MapSource format, as well as MapSend? I'm looking at converting vector maps in a propriatory format for use in (probably) a garmin reciever.

Konstantin, I realized the latest version of MapEdit also has support for GPS: that's really great. At this point I can plan to abandone MapSource and use directly MapEdit, connecting the PC to the GPS. For my point of view the capability to import shapefiles and to edit data represent a big added value against MapSource.
I suggest you to "keep the distance" from MapSource and to implement what MapSource is not able to do:
# to manage legend and colors for each layer
# to define new object types
# to make selectively visible/invisible each layer
# to optimize label positioning at the display time
# to query objects by layers sensitivity
# and so on

Also, and this is even more important, you should evaluate the idea to maintain the coordinate precision you keep in input from shapefiles or other sources, even if I understand this is unhelpfull for MapSOurce.

How do I upload several maps at the same time to a Garmin? I have only succeded one by one.
